ECG Naturals Essential Oils Collection

Essential Oils are a complex compound of organic natural chemicals that impart their own unique fragrance. Every aspect of the growing conditions of the plant as well as the life stage of the plant determine the essential oil's chemistry and fragrance. The same species of plant grown in one geographical location can yield vastly different scents compared to another. It usually requires a huge amount plant material to obtain a small amount of pure essential oil.

Quality

The ECG Naturals' Essential Oils collection is made from the finest fragrant oil found accross the world. Our Essential oils are distilled from whole plants, or from their leaves, stems, roots, bark or flowers. The ECG Essential Oils collection is for topical use only.

History

Essential Oils have been used for 1000s of years as natural perfumes and colognes. The Egyptians were possibly the first people to extensively make use of aromatherapy and aromatic herbs and included their use in religion, cosmetics as well as medicinal purposes. Their use of Essential Oils dates back to 3,500 BC.

The term aromatherapy as we know it today was first coined in 1937 by the French chemist and perfumer Rene Maurice Gattefosse. In 1910 he burnt his hand badly in his laboratory and being the first available compound handy, treated his badly burnt hand with pure undiluted lavender oil, which not only immediately eased the pain, but helped heal the hand without any sign of infection or scar.

More Information

An Essential Oil's fragrance influences the brain and nervous system. When you smell an essential oil, the scent molecules stimulate the mucus membrane of the nose which stimulates the nervous system. Essential oils are found in aromatherapy, and can be used to promote calming effects or as fragrant colognes.

Some common uses for Essential Oils:

Bathing: add 4 or 5 drops of your choice in essential oil to your bath.
Hair care: add several drops of Peppermint essential oil to your shampoo.
Mosquito Spray: Add 10 drops each of Lemongrass, Eucalyptus and Lavender pure essential oils to a spray bottle with water. Shake and apply to your body to keep mosquitoes at bay. Avoid contact with eyes and other sensitive areas.
Body Oil: Add 10 drops of essential oil to a carrier oil (Grape seed or Safflower Oil) to make a fragrant body oil. Carrier oils can be found at your local grocery store.
