Lycobinol™ is a proprietray formulation of Indole 3 Carbinol also known as I3C and Lycopene in a brocolli powder base.
Lycobinol™ is a proprietary formulation offering a combination of Indole 3 Carbinol, Lycopene and Broccoli powder. Researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana determined that eating vegetables containing Indole 3 Carbinol such as broccoli and vegetables that contain Lycopene such as tomatoes, together offered better protection against certain diseases. Why? Mixing the compounds from the two foods could have a synergistic effect.
This unique combination is available from ECG Naturals in Lycobinol™.
Indole 3 Carbinol also known as I3C is a concentrated powder extract from the Cruciferious vegetables which is found in Broccoli, Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Turnips and Cauliflower. The reason they are called cruciferious vegetables is the fact that when sliced in half you will see a cross, hence the crucifix in cruciferious. Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) is shown to provide such an effective defence against certain diseases because of its ability to balance the two main chemical forms of the hormone estrogen - 'estradiol' and 'estriol'. 'Estradiol' is a particularly potent form of estrogen that's been strongly linked to certain diseases, unlike the weaker form 'estriol' which doesn't pose a risk. Over the past few years, mounting research has shown that supplementing with Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) can reduce 'estradiol' levels and increase those of 'estriol', thereby significantly decreasing the threat of certain diseases. It is believed by some leading experts that as a man ages, his testosterone levels diminish, then certain estrogens tend to reek havoc on the prostate gland causing some to enlarge which can eventually lead to a certain diseases.
In order to get the recommended dose of 300 to 400 mgs of Indole 3 Carbinol you would have to eat heaping servings of Broccoli for breakfast, cabbage for lunch, cauilflower for supper and snack on brussel sprouts and turnips all day long. It may be easier to take 2 capsules of Lycobinol™ per day that gives you 400mgs of Indole 3 Carbinol.
Supplementing with I3C is a much better option than eating five cabbages a day!
In order to get the equivalent of a standard 200mg capsule (one capsule of Lycobinol) of Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C), you would need to eat five small, whole cabbages! Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) may also guard against chronic diseases like dementia and diabetes.
It's also a potent antioxidant that can help ward off age-related disease. Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) is able to do this by limiting the damage caused by free radicals - it destroys any free radical toxins it encounters circulating in your blood stream. It also protects your DNA against a free radical attack, thereby preventing premature ageing and chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis and dementia (Can Res 2001,61(16):6120-6130).
In the process of studying I3C's antioxidant benefits, scientists also uncovered yet another protective action it possesses. They found that Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) helps to stimulate and protect your liver enzymes, making it much easier for your liver to get rid of harmful toxins and poisons (Toxicol Appl Pharmacol 2001,174(2):146-152).
Lycobinol™also contains Lycopene a powerful antioxidant known as carotenoids which gives fruits and vegetables the red to orange colour such as tomatoes, guava, rosehip, watermelon and pink grapefruit. Carotenoids work to protect against certain diseases and aging-related diseases by acting as an antioxidant to counteract damaging effects of free radicals in tissues. Lycopene is one of the major carotenoids found in human blood and tissues, and is found primarily in the testis, adrenal glands, liver, prostate, breast, colon, and lung.
In one study, researchers at Harlem Hospital Center/Columbia University looked at blood concentrations of alpha- and beta-carotene and lycopene. Both groups had similar levels of all nutrients except for lycopene. They found that patients with certain diseases had significantly lower than normal levels of lycopene. After accounting for age, gender, race, smoking, alcohol consumption, and other potential influences of disease, researchers found that subjects with the lowest lycopene levels had risk about three times higher than subjects with the highest lycopene levels. In African-Americans, those with the lowest lycopene levels had an eight-fold higher risk compared with those with the highest lycopene levels. Even when looking just at smokers, those with the lowest levels of lycopene were four times as likely to get certain diseases than those with the highest concentrations, the study showed.
Lycobinol™also contains Broccoli powder which is the complete food with all elements including Indole 3 Carbinol. We like to include whenever possible the entire benefical herb.
